The 2009 Hyundai Sonata boasts improved performance thanks to its aluminum engine block and cylinder heads. This aluminum powerplant adds a variable intake system for 2009, which makes for better standing-start acceleration and passing power, Hyundai says. Other aluminum applications include the wheels. The Sonata received the highest safety ratings possible from government crash testing.
